The Strathalbyn Children's Centre has a large inviting outdoor play area providing the children with room to move, a sandpit area, grassed area, mud kitchen, dirt pit, sensory path, loose parts play area, wooden boat, vegetable garden, climbing equipment and much more.
These areas foster children to develop their physical skills, coordination, social skills, problem solving, imagination and curiosty.
With a Nature Play reserve next door, the children visit this area to have play on the wooden boat, balance logs, swings, bike track and flying fox.
The outdoor play areas also over look the Agricultural paddocks of the local High school, which gives the children the unique opportunity to see cows and calves, sheep and lambs, as well as tractors and other farming activities on a daily basis.
While the over two year olds have a shared outdoor space, the under two year old area is fenced off to provide a safe space for them to learn and explore.
